Getting Creative for a Cause

Hello Cayman Creatives! Art Nest is excited to be collaborating with various organizations to get creative for a cause – in this case, three different causes. We wanted to share these community initiatives with you so that you can also lend your creative input. As Helen Keller said: “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” Community Initiative 1: Park Makeover Our children deserve a safe and beautiful play area to express themselves through movement and creative exploration. This space should be available in all districts across Cayman Islands. Watlers Community Park, which has recently fallen into disrepair, is about to get a makeover, thanks to the collaboration of a few or

Top 3 Reasons to be Conscious of your Collective

Are you aware that we are essentially who we surround ourselves with? Do you believe that your environment plays a role in how we behave, the places we go, and even the successes we experience? We believe this to be true and studies have also shown that surrounding yourself and spending quality time with people who are working to achieve the same goals as you, will put you in a better mind-set to carry through with those goals. “Surround yourself with people who have dreams, desires and ambition; they’ll help you push for and realize your own.” ~~ Anonymous However, we encourage you to take it even further by NOT ONLY surrounding yourself with like-minded people, but also spending quality ti

Feature Friday: Blair Ebanks

Blair Ebanks, founder of Plant Based Studio, is all about cultivating creativity with plants. Blair is more than a gardener and embraces the art form of plant arrangement. As a trained teacher, she naturally gravitates to becoming more knowledge-based in her art and enjoys sharing her love and passion for gardening with others. Art Nest has partnered with Blair to bring to our community another creative and innovative way to party: with plants! If you were one of the lucky ones at our first Plant Party earlier this month at the studio, you would know what an amazing event it was. If you missed it, don’t worry, Plant Party will be making appearances at Art Nest Creative Studio next month. We’

Three Tips To Engage in Community Arts

Living in Cayman Islands often feels like a blessing. Not to brag, but most times we want to say “we live where people vacation!” This should make it easier or give us an incentive to get involved in this beautiful slice of paradise. The art scene in Cayman has been experiencing quite a boom recently with increased art spaces, art exhibitions and a general welcoming of public art murals. It’s a great time to get involved as a community in the arts scene. Volunteering your time and/or resources can give you a sense of well-being, fulfillment, and will help to foster a feeling of togetherness. Are you wondering how you can get involved? We've collated three top tips in how you can get started

Feature Friday: Lola Diaz Pascual

If you attended our Starry Pumpkin Canvas & Cocktails night recently, you were one of the lucky ones to experience Lola Diaz Pascual’s first taught class! Lola has been with Art Nest Creative Studio since our launch and has recently celebrated two years being at the studio! Starting out as a volunteer assisting with events, Lola moved up to be an artist apprentice, a camp leader and currently carries out private art tuition. Art Nest was proud to witness this young, emerging artist displaying and sharing the confidence and skills that have been fostered in studio with the wider community. Do you want to learn more about Lola and her art journey? Read on as we have a Q&A session with Lola. Ar

Feature Friday: Cera-Tan Kennaird

Our vision of collaborating and connecting artists (and even those who don’t realize yet that they are artists!) to their creativity is being fulfilled and we couldn’t be happier about it. Today we feature a resident artist of Art Nest Creative Studio so that, as a community, you may share in our vision and it may just spark that inspiration that you’ve been seeking. Cera-Tan Kennaird is a South African artist and muralist who, a year ago, decided to take a big leap of faith and relocate to Grand Cayman. In this feature we sit down for a Q&A session to get an insight into Cera-Tan and her art. Art Nest: How long have you been an artist? Cera-Tan: I have been an artist since I was a child, it

The Consistent Creative

It is important for creatives to be consistent in practicing their craft. The goal is not necessarily about perfection (although if that’s your thing, go for it!) but practice creates inspiration and inspiration helps you to be even more creative. In other words, the more consistent you are then the more creative you will be. The perfect circle of creativity! Here are three quick tips to help you to be a consistent creative: 1. Set a specific time Set a time for a creative session in your bullet journal, on a post-it note, on your phone, watch, wind-up alarm – just about anywhere you regularly check. When you’ve written something down, you’re more likely to follow through on doing said act
