10 new creative events to try at Art Nest

1. CLAY POTTERY CLASSES

We started Hand building pottery workshops in February where participants learned how to make soup bowls and planters using coiling and slab building techiniques. This month we're learning how to slab build planters. We are hoping to start our popular "Wheel and Wine" pottery wheel workshops at the end of April when our new pottery wheels will be here!

2. CERAMIC PAINTING WORKSHOPS

In addition to our regular grab and glaze studio, which has a wide selection of ready-to-paint ceramics to choose from, we are now teaching different glazing techniques. The investment of $40 per person includes a 2.5 hour session with step by step instructions, art materials, aprons and supplies.

Last month we taught the bubble glaze techinique and this month we're teaching Monogramming technique.

3. FLUID ART

Fluid art is trending worldwide and we can teach you how! Learn acrylic pouring techniques on small canvas board first and then finish with four coasters (or larger canvas or wooden surface) for your final poured piece of art. $60 for 2 hour session includes step by step instructions, supplies, materials, wooden panels, finger foods and complimentary welcome drink.

4. FAMILY NIGHT OUT

Each month we host a new workshop designed with the family in mind. Using the same concept we use for our Corporate Team building workshops, each month we pick a project that families can do together and enjoy dinner at the same time. This month families will learn how to make name individual or family name signs. Each month features a different project. Pizza and light refreshments provided. $120 for a family of 4 (Add $15 for additional children or deduct if less than a family of 4).

5. DANCE

Being a centre for the arts in a new lush space, we have fitted out a dance studio with mirrors for various classes. These include Zumba fitness dance (Mondays & Wednesdays 5:45 - 6:45pm) and Afro-Caribbean Modern Dance (Sat, Mar 10 and Sat, Mar 24 at 6:00pm) with trained instructors.

Instructor Nicole Durrant teaches African/Caribbean traditional techniques mixed with modern dance elements. She will use her reggae roots combined with formal technique all set to amazing rhythmic drum beats to teach participants the best of all these various styles

6. ART FLIX

Art Nest hosts Artflix once a month where we screen an Art film and discussion during a 2.5 hour evening with refreshments. March's Movie is the Oscar Nominated "Loving Vincent" - a biopic of Vincent Van Gogh's life which is incidentally the first feature length film in the world to be 100% animated hand-paintings. $20 per person includes movie, pizza, green popcorn by Saucha and post-movie discussion.

7. WATERCOLOUR CLASSES

In addition to our usual Canvas & Cocktail classes which are taught using Acrylic paint, we have now added two Watercolour classes to our monthly schedule and people are absolutely loving them! The major difference of this class is that it's done flat on the table on watercolour paper as opposed to on an upright canvas and easel. Everyone is encouraged to bring drinks and snacks to share.
